Now that its been getting warmer, especially today, the car smells like a dead animal (maybe a relative of the hamster...). So what should I do. I am due to get an oil change and air filter replacement next week, but am concerned that it will not help. Whenever I take the A/C off of recirculate, the smell becomes worse. I have installed two Febreeze vent clips, and they are helping some, but not totally. It is a super noticeable smell, as my mom, and friends from school have been commenting on the Odor. My dealers service department has had some local fuels tested and has found that some of the "Cheap" stuff has as much as 17% ethanol. No names but if you think cheaper is better you are way wrong!! In April of that year I had an after market cruise control... I have a 2012 Soul BASE model 6 speed manual trans that I purchased in Feb. 2012. In April of that year I had an after market cruise control installed by an aftermarket installer that the local KIA dealership regularly uses. It worked fine for almost a year including 2 long road trips (11+ hours drive time) where the cruise was extensively used. In March of this year the CHECK ENGINE light came on and at the same time I started having acceleration issues. At my dealership they tracked the error code to the CC unit and the aftermarket installer replaced the unit and seemingly corrected the issue. The care was driven quite a bit including another long road trip where the cruise was used quite a bit. 2 days ago the CHECK ENGINE light came on again, but this time rather then constant acceleration problems it was intermittent and corrected if I turned the motor off and restarted the car. Once again the dealership said their analysis that the problem was related to the cruise control although they didn't say that the unit was bad (their computer couldn't determine that). They told me that my car may not be compatible with the cruise control. I spoke with the owner at the aftermarket place and he said that he had installed several of these units in vehicles the same model as mine with no issues. Long story short the cruise control unit was removed this afternoon and now the car is doing fine. I am basically in a waiting pattern to see if the problem happens again with the cruise control gone. I can't tell you how much I'm hoping for a problem so they can correct it.

Has anyone else had an aftermarket cruise control install in a car the same model as mine? If so have you experienced any of the issue I describe and what was the final outcome? If not what brand and model Cruise control do you have?

So I have always been curious about this one pesky problem with my 2013 Kia Soul Base ever since the day I got it. I'm not sure if this is common (I don't see it on any other Souls around town), but underneath all the doors, there is some sort of rubbery grease-type that comes out near the hinges and it leaks all the way down the side of the car. It sort of feels like tar and it is a pain to have to scrape off the paint constantly. I drive a black Soul and it even stands out badly. Anyway to get it removed and avoid this?

So I have a 2013 Kia Soul Base 1.6 and I am thinking about driving 230 miles (3 hours, 30 minutes) up the state of Florida to Jacksonville via I-95 on Friday.
I am one of those people that are really freaked out at the thought of their car breaking down or something happening along the way.

Is there anything I should check before I make my road trip? I have 9,800 miles on the car and the last time I got the oil checked was at 8,200 miles. No warning lights come up in the instrument panel when you start the vehicle and the tires are in great condition as well.
