    2013 Kia Soul +

    Hi all~!

This is actually my second post in this area (I posted a loooong time ago, back in November). I'm assuming since I'm new I'm limited in where I can post...

I have a 2013 Kia Soul+ that I've had for about a year now, and my bragging rights about the car was that I made a two day trip - with a trailer! - from OH to CA!! I had a friend with me, so we could switch off, and my back seat was occupied by my zoo -- which leads me to the reason why I *finally* came back to the forums (that, and I have more free time).

Even though I took care in making sure my pets were comfortable -- such as providing a litter box for my cats in their crates -- someone missed the box and went wee wee wee on my back seat! Cat pee is horribly offensive, and I've tried EVERYTHING to get the smell out. I've used Nature's Miracle, Bissel Pet Urine and Odor eliminator, home remedies -- and it lingers. What's worse, when my car is in the sun my black interior seems to bake and the smell amplifies.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Should I have this cleaned at a dealership or reupholstered? My fear with going to a dealership for cleaning is that it will just "mask" the smell, and not actually remove it -- especially if the pee is in the foam/cushion of the seat.

Also... can someone explain to me the mystery of newbie posting? This is the second forum I've joined where newbies have to be approved by admins. I'm sure it has something to do with weeding out spammers and all, but it's kind of frustrating when you want to post in a specific topic and you can't unless you're approved...

    Thanks in advance.

yes there is severe limitations for new members till you get a few posts (not sure what the limit is), we've had too many problems in the past with one-shot wonders that are spammers posting links to weird stuff and just trying to sell stuff right away or advertise (it always the odd few that ruin it for the majority). For us long time members we are glad they have put serious control on the situation, so just be patient it all works out in the long run.

In your situation I would suggest taking it to a detailer shop (a dealer will only pass it onto a place like that and then charge you more). Have you checked for any possible tips on YouTube.

Oh man that would drive me bonkers. I second the detail shop, but I might also suggest going to a pet store and seeing if they have a special shampoo or something. Third as a last resort, maybe start looking for a new seat.

Should have used a pet seat cover??

Look for a detailer that specialize in vehicle decontamination. Good luck.

There are no restrictions on posting as a newbie but there are some things that you will have to wait on until you have a few posts like pasting pictures into a post. If you are new, your very first post will be reviewed, not by the admins, but by the mods. It does indeed have to with spams. Last year we had a flurry of spam that would not stop.

The review is done between your initial posting and the forum members being able to see it. In this situation, your number of posts will be "0" zero. On approval of the post you will either have gotten permission to go forward and the number will change to "1". It will start counting after that, 1,2,3,4,....

You also could be denied in which case you are not a member and will not be able to post anything. That has happened a few times, members do not see any of this high drama action. But once the 1 appears, everyone can see your post and thread. You can also post on any of the forums. Click on the black menu bar, to the right where it says "FORUM". That page contains a listing of the available topic forums although the posting is universally visible on the "What's New" page.

I would guess I should put this on the intro page but have been too lazy lately to do it. Since I get paid for the stuff I do off the page instead of on it, the incentive is not there, sorry.

I would suggest a professional detail shop, they have cleaners not generally available to the public. Worst case scenario try wreckers for a used seat.

That's what I figured. I was apart of a forum a back in HS and we had a huge issue with spammers. My personal favorite experience was when we had this girl that came on and caused drama. We figured out she had another account and was trying to say I was harassing her and sending threatening messages after I exposed her and pointed out her contradictions. Oh what fun times...

I haven't checked YouTube actually. I'm too impatient to watch videos. I'm more of "likes to read instructions" kind of person.

I did come across on a google search someone suggest using an extractor - thoughts on that?

I did actually. Buddy even had a cat box in his (dog sized) crate. Thanks for the suggestion though!
