So after finishing a nice paint job on my new SSD Warm Air Intake, I decided I should probably make a nice install video (will be edited and posted within a week or two) and dyno it up to see the gains.

As you can see from the first graph, our highest numbers with the stock intake were 126.94HP and 124.53TQ. Kinda disappointing that we actually lost 20.67% of our stock 160HP through the stock drivetrain, but I guess that is to be expected.

With the new SSD WAI installed the car put out some better numbers, with highs of 133.10HP and 128.43TQ, as shown by graphs 2 and 3.

That equates to gains of 6.16HP and 3.9TQ (4.63% and 3.04%) which isn't too bad for just a warm air intake.

Our next step is to change the factory conventional oil out for some Green Earth Technologies Bio-Based, Biodegradable, Full Synthetic 5W20. We believe that should free up another 10HP or so, and add to our nice MPGs.

Spearman... Without going into a long convoluted explanation of science and physics, basically our WAI and CAI will put out similar gains under IDEAL circumstances but the WAI will give some of those gains back as under hood temps get hotter. Obviously the WAI is cheaper at just $129 (including heat shield) vs. the CAI at $199 but the CAI's enclosed filter will stay cleaner longer and the CAI also looks kind of exotic installed on the Soul. For details and pics on both of these, just go here SSD Performance

Homer... Happy to! They are all stainless steel and will fit a filter up to 5.75" in diameter (unless you modify it). I can sell you one either powder coated black or one in a polished stainless steel finish for twenty bucks and shipping. If I'm reading USPS's site correctly, it can go First Class to Canada for $8. PM me with your email address if you want one and I'll send you a Paypal invoice.

Zero F is about -16 C, which about our bottom end here in the banana belt on the north shore of Lake Ontario. I guess I'm looking for some information that will tip me towards one over the other. If they both do the same thing and give similar results, then why have both? If you had to shoose, which one would you pick?

Like I said in the earlier post, the CAI gives the best gains on a more consistant basis than the WAI. It also looks better, stays cleaner longer (which requires less maintenance), has a little more aggressive sound but costs more so while they seem similar to you, they might not to someone else with diffrent needs / wants. I personally have the CAI on my 2012 2.0 liter Soul. It gets pretty hot in the Summer time down here!

ssd do you make a water bypass valve to go with your cai. i have had issues with other vehicles getting hydro locked due to sucking up water driving in the rain. and if so how much thanks and sorry to thread jack. nice numbers on the dyno i have the same car and was wanting to do this good to see the actual numbers

hampstar... We don't sell a bypass. You could put one on but I really think it is not necessary unless you are going to find yourself in about 20" of water. The snorkel on our CAI's are pretty high compared to the older style CAI's that have a filter hanging down in the fender in fact it's about 6" higher than our old style CAI. That was one of the reasons we decided on the new inline filter for all of our CAI's. Having said that, our SSD 2.0 CAI uses a standard 3" tube so if you wanted to add the bypass, it would be pretty easy.
