    Bluetooth Problem - Won't connect a call?

I have read through the forums and found one other thread where someone else had this same problem, but I didn't see any definitive answer on the solution.

I have a AT&T (HTC) Fuze, latest firmware, and my car has NEVER once given me the "Transfer Complete" message, I get "Connection Complete" when I pair the phone (And I've deleted it and re-paired it several times now). If I press the talk button, it says "Please wait" and sits there.

After a few minutes, I can press talk and then say "Call xx at xx" and confirm it, it makes the fast dialing sound, and says "Active Call" on the screen, but never connects...a few moments of silence and then it drops right back to the radio - if I hit the talk button again, it says "Downloading Phonebook" on the screen and will say that for at least 10 minutes...eventually it will respond to a Talk Button request and repeat the same cycle. It never says "Transfer Complete" and it never seems to allow me to make a call.

I guess I shouldn't say never, it made the first call I ever tried, and it made a call yesterday immediately after I deleted the connection on the head unit AND my phone, rebooted the phone, and then paired it with the head unit again....it made one call and then immediately after that it went back to this mode.

Although this afternoon, I had a good laugh with it - I'll post about that in another thread.

Any ideas as to what is wrong and how to fix it?

It will tell you about boobies but not a phone call? That's strange.

    connection issues

Are you by chance using android 2.1? I have a tmobile nexus one and it did the same thing. after i upgraded to andriod 2.2 , all issues disappeared. Seems to be only 2.1 on some phone models. Check and see if you are using 2.1 and if so, find out thru AT&T when you can get the 2.2 software.Should be within the next few months. I went several months without after i upgraded phones and it really sucks that you cant use all of your cars features. Be patient, i am pretty sure when you get 2.2 this will fix it. Good luck. I also have a thread about this. See android 2.1

I wish it was that simple, it's Window Mobile 6.1. I tried moving all of my contact to the sim card to see if that worked, no go....

Gives me an excuse to upgrade my phone early now, right?

    Angry Just as an update....

I have been fighting with this for awhile now and I saw on another thread where someone with an Android phone said that they had to delete their call history to get it to work.

So I figured, what the hey, I have a Windows phone, but it could work, right? I deleted my call history, and BAM! it worked perfectly...moments after I start the car, I get 'Transfer Complete' and then I can initiate voice calls from the car.

    So it's perfect, right?

No, it turns out that it's fine, but if I make or receive a call at any point during the day while I'm in the car, it adds to my call history. So the fact that the Soul re-downloads the phone book after EVERY call causes it to 'hang' while downloading, until I can turn off bluetooth and then delete my call history again. Then I can turn on BT and it works perfectly again.

Kind of frustrating, I discovered the problem, but short of hacking my phone to turn off call history, there is no real 'fix' that works.

Not only the version of the OS, but the maker of the phone can be an issue too. I had an HTC Incredible that connected, but transferred the phone book EACH TIME I CONNECTED. Very annoying. Switched to the Motorola Droid X. No more issues. Only transfers phonebook when there are changes made on the phone.

That's funny, I was seriously just looking at a Droid X because I'm so frustrated with my Touch Pro - I am faced with breaking my contract for $105 and picking up a Droid X for $199, or suffering until May next year (or option C - early upgrade to an Iphone 3GS for $299...which seems insane to me when I could break the contract and then get a new 3GS for $99 new contract...)

Do you like the Droid X? I was thinking about going with that or waiting a few more weeks to get the Samsung Galaxy S (I think it's called the Fascinate on Verizon, and something else on Sprint and AT&T)
