ive heard some different stuff from people over the years about speakers. how long should i wait to turn up the speakers to a decent volume? do i even need to wait? ive been keeping them at like 8, and i got the car 5 days ago, not really sure what to do.
There used to be a speaker break-in period long ago, when I was a kid. I haven't heard of such a thing for many, many years now - I'm not even sure if paper cone speakers still need that. They're stock Infinity speakers, you should have zero problems applying whatever volume is comfortable for you.
Turn them up as loud as you want it. At least try to break them during your warranty period so you replace a defective speaker while it's still free to do so.
in my 29 years on the planet, about 20 of which has been spent installing stereo equipment (yes i installed stereos when i was a kid... i did my mom and dads cars) i have never "broken-in" anything.... its electronics. theres no moving parts. just because you SEE the speaker moving doesnt mean it has moving parts. it floats inside the basket and there is no contact between the voice coil and the motor structure whatsoever... so if its isnt contacting anything, what would you be breaking in?
Infinity is a highly quality company. Their speakers are built to blast from the get-go. Just don't overdue it within the first week (which for you was a while ago) 15 or below. From then on out, do what you will.
