Thread: Deck + Dash Kit Install - 2012 Soul

Not seen many with aftermarket Head Unit installs here so I thought I'd post my install.

I ordered a Pioneer DEH-P9400BH:


And Scosche Dash Kit:


Ordered from Amazon.com and will be doing the install over the next week. I'll be rewiring my current setup (Sub/Doors and Amps) and integrating with the factory steering wheel controls.

I found later there is in fact a install post for a 2012+ Soul. But in response to a PM I received, here are some additional details and pics of my install:

Wiring Harness (Schoce HY12B):

The harness says 2010+ but it is in fact for the 2012 without Sub and UVO.
NOTE: I forgot to wire in the Steering Wheel to IR adaptor when I originally wired the harness. If you are using such an adaptor, don't forget to wire for it first too. Otherwise it'll be a pain once your in the car.

Find the small notch on the bottom of the trim piece surrounding the HVAC and Stereo. Removing this will likely be the most time consuming and hardest part of the installing. Best to have the right tools!! Buy a set of Trim removal tools!

These three connectors need to removed:

NOTE: If you need to drive your Soul somewhere during the install, reconnect the Flashers or your turn singles will not function.

Completely taken apart. Stereo out, HVAC out. Taking the HVAC out is not necessary, but will make it easier to run wire.


Stock deck and connectors to the airbag, flashers and Eco. Remove the three buttons from stock trim.


Harness installed,will add lots of wire to that small space. Consider trimming back as much as possible for a cleaner install. (I didn't! Lol)


Deck and dash kit installed:

NOTE: there is very little room between the back of the deck and the 'wall' behind it. Either use low profile RCA connectors or L-shaped plugs (if your using a similar pioneer or other deck whose preouts are on place up high on the back if the deck.

NOTE:
I am using the mic (Bluetooth Phone pairing) that came with the pioneer. It sucks, virtually worthless. Planing to try to integrate it with the factory mic. Need to find the stock wires and trace them back to the deck. Some day!
