    No 2012 bug shield yet!

True enough, I called Deland Kia Parts today and they confirmed with Kia that "Kia has not released an OEM bug shield for the 2012, and it will probably be after the first of the year before they do."

Has anyone heard of a 3rd party that has released a bug shield for the 2012? Please advise.....

    2012 nose guard

I have checked pretty much everywhere in Canada, plus surfing on the internet... I can not find a reliable source for a 2012 deflector. I finally bailed and went and got the 3M protection...cost $170 CAD and you can't even see it (they did a really good job). I like the way the deflector looks, but if it does not fit properly, what are you to do?

i still think some after market supplier is missing the boat by not offering a crystal clear transparent shield - one that would allow body color to show through and/or allow the back side of the shield itself to be sprayed in body color - as far as i'm concerned the only acceptable vehicle to mount a black shield upon is equally black itself -

    ^ Couldn't agree more Fernando.

After all the dings on my current rides Hood, I definitely want the deflector on my upcoming Soul.

I am torn between the Soul in white and black, but so far I'm leaning to the black because at least the deflector would blend in a bit more and not blot out a bunch of color.

here's a close up comparison of the hood between a 2011 and 2012, so you can see why it needs a different hood deflector for the 2012 model.

Great news! The 2012 US Bug Shield is now available! Here is the link OEM Factory 2012 Kia Soul Hood Air Deflector Bug Shield Protector Guard # 2K024 ADU00 This is long overdue, and I will be purchasing it soon! Too bad it doesn't have the cutout for the Kia logo, but I can overlook that due to the numerous dings I have on my hood at only 8K miles.

I too, was looking for a Bug Shield/Hood Deflector, but I didn't like the skinny one that Kia was offering. I REALLLLY like the one that Canada Sells, which I believe is made by Lund..... not sure.....

My wife surprised me yesterday morning for Christmas, with a Kia Hood Mask and Bra Set. I popped on the Hood Mask, which covers up the area where the Bugs & Rocks have been hitting, and I'll just leave the Bumper Bra section in the Box and store it. It has a KIA logo embroidered in the front of it. She ordered it from Deland Kia, since they came out with the 2012 Accessories.

    Cheers!

always been nervous of the hood mask/bra because I have seen that used on older vehicles and they flap a lot and can mark the hood and it appears to fade and you get different shades when its eventually removed. Not sure if this still applies on more recent vehicles.

This one seems well made. It has a small lip on top, like an Air Dam, to keep it against the Hood, which should alleviate the flapping..... I hope! I'll find out in a day or so, when I get it out on the highway.

If I could find a Canadian version of the Hood Deflector, I'd buy that one in a heartbeat. It covers a sufficient amount of the Hood, and appears to block all of the Bug/Rock Contact areas.

I've had the Vinyl Hood Masks, Plastic Bug/Rock Shields/Deflectors, and I have even tried the Magnetic Bra. I was less than impressed with the Magnet Bra, because it would fall apart where it was crimped to the Hood, with the supplied Holder. It wouldn't last more than a year. I followed the recommended Removal Instructions, every time I washed the cars, and yet, they would start to peel away under the Hood Lip.

I've used Hood Masks in the past, and the trick to keeping the Hood pristine, is to remove it when Washing, and Wax the entire Hood before putting it back on. I've had these on a few cars, and my Hood Paint matched when I Traded them. Some folks, unfortunately, install them, and never remove them, or clean under them, or wax under them. Finally, when they do get around to removing them, the damage is done. Two-Tone Hood..... scratches from leaves and debris that have fallen between the Hood Mask and Hood, and general grit and grime.

To me, the Plastic Bug/Rock Shields/Deflectors work much better, than the Masks and Magnetic Bras. The Plastic ones are easy to install..... you never have to remove them..... air and debris flow under and out of them..... and you can easily Wash and Wax between them and the Hood.

In the meantime, anything to cover the Hood, and protect it, works for me, until Kia or Lund sell a decent one in the US market.

    Cheers!

How do you like the Hood Mask and Bra Set? I would put them both on, did you? I am torn between the bug shield and the set your wife got you for Christmas....
