It would help if you filled out your profile with your location. I thought at first the engine had fallen out, all this because you've got a broken sub-woofer and can't be bothered to get it fixed - sounds like you'll never get satisfied, no matter what car you buy unless you never have to get something fixed. What do you do for service?
35 miles away and the dealer and the dealership is not trust worthy enough and 40 miles from another that takes too long to get too - 5 miles more and you can't be bothered????
Wow. Cars require maintenance every once in a while. 5 minutes extra time and you might have to spend a little time in the service department. I live 60 miles from the nearest dealership and I have 4 Kias. Most likely the dealer will have a loaner for you, but, you probably haven't bothered to call. How do you make time to get an oil change every 3k miles, or don't you do that?

For now, you could consider having a local trusted mechanic do repair work (though he won't get reimbursed for warranty work like the subwoofer). The local mechanic likely will be less expensive than the dealer, too. There does not seem to be much in the way of service manuals for the Soul, but I did buy a CD off That Famous Auction Site that shows some repair procedures and has exploded parts diagrams so I can start diagnosing problems when they show up. There are some Kia dealerships which sell parts through the Internet. And stuff like oil changes and brake work can be done almost anywhere. So you don't have to be stuck with dealer service for long.
If you choose to buy a different car, though, check out the reputation of the dealership first and consider that 40 miles may not be far to get a car you really like, but it's a royal pain to drive that far for service -- assuming the car is driveable at all.
Super short signature here.
My closest dealership is 2 hours away, and when i wasted a day of my life for the "free initial oil change and inspection" they didn't even tighten the oil plug. Found a nice puddle of oil on the floor the next morning.
BUT a simple call to the service manager got me a coupon for several free oil changes. Now it's 2 hours away, and i do all my own service, so i probably won't take advantage of it.
the point (finaly) is that crappy dealers don't make crappy cars. My local Cadillac dealer just had it's doors locked by the feds for doing unecessary warrenty work (my car included).

plus to many to justify
I can't wait till Meaty buys another car that would be just as bad (so he says) but I think he hasn't even tried to resolve the problems. If you don't have time to solve the problems, then you don't need the items.
Heaven doesn't want me and hell is afraid I will take over.
Come on guys!!!....give the man a break..... a broken sub-woofer is an extremely serious fault and inconvenience..... i am suprised he can still use the car....maybe he should report it to the nhtsa to prevent a serious accident (cos someone else certainly will).....lol

My sub-woofer acts up sometimes, it gives off a barking sound which is very annoying. A good smack with a rolled up newspaper sorts it out.
I owned a CRX years ago and loved it. But there was things I had to go to Honda for and some dealerships were better then others. Same with Kia or any other. If I were you meaty if you really feel strongly about the travel to a dealership then you should buy a car from your closest dealership. ALL cars can have issues and require maintenence. I have 40,000km on my soul and have not had to go in for anything except minor things I report when I am there for service. Rear wiper made funny noise once and they lubed it and noise went away. Door panels were the original ones that got scratched easlily. Other then that it has been great.
