Chrome HD? Dyou mean the regular Chrome browser? I don't have a "Chrome HD" and couldn't find anything on it. But, the Chrome browser works awesomely on my Nexus, no freezing or anything. I only wish it supported Flash. I've tried mods, but they were too buggy, so I'll just deal.

TapatalkHD on the other hand is amazing. Love it to pieces. Will be buying when the official version is released.

I highly doubt the Autoguide folks will update to it though, this app hasn't gotten a big update in ages. Just "bug fixes" -___- They haven't even updated to the previous Tapatalk revamp, so I can't see them even worrying about the tablet version.

Wow! Another oldie and moldie revived!

Much has happened with Firefox since this thread's inception, two years ago.

Anyone using FF should have version 17.0.1 by today. Just set the auto-updates and always have the latest version.
To make FF work for most all web sites, it's important to also have Flash and Shockwave installed. Keeping Java up to date is also important.

Chrome? I've labeled that as a Virus. Why you might well ask? Well because it acts just like a virus. It slithers into your computer like a snake,
without your permission and then takes over as your default browser and installs toolbars, etc.
I'm constantly taking it off of my customers' PC's and they don't know what it is or where it came from. It's really a nasty piece of work.

I also stay away from MS Internet Explorer. They have been trying to fix the security holes in that program since its inception, years ago, and they still have not totally fixed it. Just because your computer probably came with I.E. doesn't mean you have to use it. It just ain't safe!

    Y'all have a great 2013 now, Y'hear?

I use Firefox (17.0.1) in most cases, and also IE9 if I have problems with a website. I few weeks back I downloaded Chrome for the first time to try that out and just getting the hang of that. (it has never showed up on my computer without my okay)

I have downloaded Chrome because I have been having problems accessing the Kia Canada website, because when I use Firefox it always comes up "page not found", Chrome works with no problem, IE works okay too except the main page like there is no flash, but all other pages are fine. It is the only site where I am having this problem. I always keep flash and Java up-to-date.

Hmmm! I just pulled up Kia Canada, with no problem.
If you're having problems with that site, there must be something amiss in your FF setup.

There is a whole page of FF enhancement settings, that make it faster and more flexible.
I install them for all my customers.

Make sure you're using the "Non I.E." version of Flash and also install Shockwave.
Here's the "How To" on speeding up FF.

    Making Mozilla's Firefox "FASTER"
Here's something for broadband Users that will really speed up Firefox:

    1. Type "about:config" (without the quotes) into the address bar and hit return.
Scroll down and look for the following entries:

    network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
    network.http.pipelining
    network.http.proxy.pipelining

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

    2. Alter the entries as follows: (Right Click on an entry and in the Context Menu click on “Toggle” to change ‘False’ to ‘True’.)

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

    Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

    Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

    3. Lastly, right-click anywhere and select New-> then click on “Integer”. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

To help with the "memory leaks" in Firefox:
    1. Open about:config in Firefox and Right-Click in the page to create a New --> Boolean.
    2. Cut/Paste the following into the text field that pops up: config.trim_on_minimize
    3. Select True, press Enter and Restart Firefox.
If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now.

    *****************************************
    * Copy and paste the above fix into Wordpad or Notepad and print it out for easy access.

You might find that some of these settings are already set by Mozilla.

    Cheers Mate!

thanks, Techno, I did what you said above, hard to tell as this point whether its generally faster.

Still have the problem with FF on Kia Canada. Where do I find these FF enhancements and also where would I get a Non IE version of Flash and where do I find this shockwave you talk about

This is what I get when I try to load the Kia Canada page in FF.

Chrome all the way! I was hardcore I.E. until it started screwing up. Downloaded Chrome and never looked back.

Clearly, your customers don't know how to use a computer.

Chrome doesn't install itself, unless it's a Google/Android powered netbook or device.

It also doesn't take over your default browser unless you tell it to.

It also doesn't install toolbars. It doesn't even have toolbars unless you download them from the Web App or Add One store.

I've run Chrome for years, on various OS's, and it keeps me seamlessly connected and synced between my laptop, tablet, and phone with ease. After years of fighting with every browser known to man, Chrome has been nothing short of a fresh breath of air.

Amen, Chrome with AdBlock all the way. It performs well on all my machines and only does what it's supposed to do. I hope the Android version adds a few more features soon, but I'm completely satisfied. I only use IE when I need it for work. I used Firefox for a while and was pleased with earlier versions, but once Chrome was fairly mature, there wasn't any reason to keep Firefox around.

Used to do tech support for Micro$oft. And even though I know it inside and out............I HATE Internet Exploder.....uh, I mean Explorer. I moved to Fire Fox and used it for a while, much better. Then Chrome came out.......For now, I'm using Chrome. It uses less resources than IE and FF.

Chrome is my "Internet Explorer", so to speak. My Internet Explorer is just used as my Chrome downloader, heh.
