neat, does the rubber sleeve of the phone hold it in place from moving or is there something behind it.
Mine is the same console too with the UVO system, but I have a Garmin for my GPS use, as I just have a very basic smart phone with basic pay for use on it.
It just so happens that the phone case is exactly the right size to fit snugly into the cubby opening. It doesn't move. The case has slightly grippy edges that help with this.
That said, a smaller or slightly larger phone should fit in there pretty well, too - smaller would just push in a little further, larger would just push the lid open a bit, which would make the fit even more snug.
Google maps with live traffic is of course free, and has proved VERY useful in routing me around problems when they occur.
If I'm going someplace I've never been before, I look up the address on MapQuest, print out the map and take it with me.
Works great and it's much cheaper than a smart phone. I usually just memorize the map so I don't have to keep looking at it while I'm driving.
My phone is a stupid phone, but I got it FREE from the VA and I only need to make one call a month to keep it activated.
I have been looking for a holder for my phone for a while but haven't been able to find one that I like. I didn't realize Kia had one built in. I will use that one.
I have a 2015 Soul, and Kia moved the sunglass holder to the ceiling... so no convenient cell phone cubby for me.
A couple years ago I ordered one of these: Bestek gooseneck clamp mount for my Saturn, but never could find anywhere to place it. However, in my Kia it clips onto the passenger seat rail and puts my my cell phone at about the same height as the radio.
I don't have the little door on my base, but the cubby is perfect size to wedge my iPhone 5s in the same spot. With a silicone minimalistic case it holds quite firmly even on crummy winter roads.
