Rinseless wash/wax & the Soul black bumpers...?

I'm planning on buying a bottle of the TurtleWax rinseless car wash&wax (not their "Zip" product, but the other rinseless one they offer) for my brand new yellow Soul. I've watched several videos on how to apply it- no rubbing, careful microtowel drying, a section at a time, etc. So I think I can apply it properly, and I bought the thick soft towels.

My question is in regards to the black plastic bumper pieces- Does anyone have experience with testing this product ? I have no worries about the painted areas, but will this product do any weird spotty finish thing on the black plastic bumpers? It being wet when applied will make it about impossible not to get on the bumpers, but if I apply it evenly on them too, will it simply leave a nice finish on the black plastic as well?
I'm hoping somebody out there has actually tried this product and can speak from their own real experience. Anyone? Thanks!

I have used waterless wash products but am not really a fan. They do not scratch the coating which is good. I used it on my black plastic parts and tires also with no staining if thats what you were wondering. It even worked on glass and the stop light lenses with no smears. I did wipe it all off of course then followed up with a detail spray.

Like I said it works but I still think water washes do a much better job. Waterless for emergencies only I would think.

I use this product. It does not leave any residue, but I DO rinse it off with a hose.

Thanks my friends- now I can use it all over without worrying about weird streaking or residue on the black plastic parts.

PA074- do you mean you rinse the car off with a hose BEFORE using the 'rinseless' wash/wax, or AFTER using it? And you dried the car- at what point?

This stuff gets mixed 4 oz into 2 gallons of water for use on the car, so I wouldn't really call it 'waterless'...but supposed to be rinseless- you dry it off with a soft microtowel. I ordered some from my local car parts store, should get it by wednesday.

I just hosed my car off with plain water today for the first time, just to get the first dust and gnat bits off...it's still pretty darn clean from the dealer.

Not a fan of these "rinseless" products.
I mean, how long does it take to wash your Soul?
    Tip:Woolight(not kidding)does a good job as a car wash.
Use a bit in a bucket of warm water.Rinse, lightly towel off
your vehicle.AutoGlymn rubber&plastic coating works wonders on the bumpers.
Lasts a long time.Spray some on your tires too.

Take some time to do it right.

The way i understand it, the rinseless wash/wax products work in a similar way as RainX- they have no detergent in them, but they use a kind of lubricant action to lift off dirt and they leave a protectant/shine finish not unlike wax does.

I understand how the whole concept seems odd- it goes against general wisdom we've grown up with. But I still would like to try it out. If my car had lots of dirt or grit I would certainly hose first. ;D

Washing and waxing your car should not be an instant gratification thing. It should leave you a little tired with a smile on your face..........and the car should be smiling too. It's how you make love to your car.

If you see two dogs getting amorous you throw a bucket of water on them right? That's how you start the process with car-washing...... plenty of H2OH!

Well if I look out the window and see my husband's orange Element and my yellow Soul 'getting amorous', there's no way I'm gonna throw a bucket of water on them. If they have a litter of little Soulements it'd be awesome!

Though I have nothing against shortcuts per se, I am not a fan of automatic drive-through car washes either. But truth be told, I'd rather spend my spare time playing my banjo than washing my car, no matter how much i love my car. =8-o Yeah I know, I must be sick in the head. (Paddle faster!) We'll see how this stuff works for me.

I gotta be honest here, I'm a big fan of instant gratification for things like cleaning the house, mowing the yard, changing the oil and yes...washing the car.

These are things I outsource. I'm more than capable doing them...but my time is better spent letting people I have developed relationships with doing for me.

Not everyone will think that same way, but my time has a value too, and I prefer to find something I truly enjoy, rather than a chore that has to be done.

On topic, I have used a few of the Meguirs products that work in a similar fashion, but only for touch up... I've never noticed a film, and some of the cars I've seen it used on you could shave in the reflection. BUT, that's Meguirs and not Turtle Wax. Couldn't tell you the difference.

You guys spent 20 grand on a brand new car and are using gimmick washing products on it?

spend the time to watch the videos linked in this thread.
Proper Way To Wash Your Car

Oh and don't dry your car by wiping down with a towel, Chamois, rag, etc. That is a good source of swirl scratches. Pick up a 20 dollar leaf blower.
