    Auto Transmission Behavior

Hi all. I hope I am better and I guess will see. When I was driving today I noticed that my transmission would shift down on deceleration to a light or turn. It was almost as if I manually did it if you can fathom what I mean. Speeding up was the same way. If I'm doing say 50 and slow down below 40 it will down shift noticeably. I tried the manual shift ability and it was almost the same as the auto operation. Noticeable.

I will drive my wife's soul tomorrow when I go fill i up for her. But wanted to ask if this is normal or if I have a problem forming? I admit I do not understand electronic transmissions. To repair them is a software flash maybe? As a kid I could do everything to my 70 Road Runner and even my 72 Toyota. Now I am clueless and the elec transmission is just one example!

its normal nothing to worry about , its more noticeable the slower you get (I notice it more when it drops below 60 kmph (40 mph). When an automatic upshifts it has to downshift when you slowdown, just watch your tach as you slow down. Older vehicles with 3 and 4 speed automatics won't be as noticeable but it still does the same thing, if it didn't you would still be in top gear when you stop.
It's just the same as a manual transmission except your doing it manually yourself, but you may skip gears when doing that but will vary depending on conditions.

I feel it too. I just assumed it was down shifting and normal. Although, I was startled when I first felt it because I never noticed it in my 02 intrepid.
