Yes I understand and I would change it out asap. With the mismatch I wonder it you should swap the flat off the front with one off the rear and put the (mismatch) spare on the rear. I would think a mismatch would be less bad on the rear rather than on the front drive axle.

I am surprised by the cost of the spare. I have never priced one before and just expected it would be a cheaper item. Necessary - I get it - just thought it was a less expensive item.

I thought it would cost more, with lug wrench, jack and all the other stuff. I just wish I could get the correct size!

you could do that, if you are able and probably a good idea if you don't plan on getting it repaired for a while, but when the flat occurs the conditions are not always suitable to start switching two wheels around and not the best when working with the standard jack. But its your call when the situation arises.
I did a rough check on my 16" compact spare vs my standard 18" alloys and the difference in overall diameter is about 1-1.5"

I dunno, 200 bucks doesn't seem all that expensive for the tire, wheel, jack and insert (at least that is what they want for a 16 inch for the 2012).

Agree, I just thought it was a $50 item. I just have never priced one before.

Yes I would only do the 2 wheel swap if I knew it would a while before I could get the other tire repaired or replaced and I would move to a safe location to do the swap. I would still like to have the correct size spare although any is better than none!

I see your point, but if Kia lists only the T215/80D16 for the the 16,17 and 18" then they must feel it does the job as long as its used in a temporary situation. You can always get a regular full size spare if you wish, it will fit in the wheel well but it could effect the under floor storage tray as its much larger in thickness, but not sure if this is the case on the 2014 model. But how often do you get a flat? It's been at least a couple of decades since I've had one.

Check with Technomage, he carries a full size spare and his pictures have appeared on here several times. But he has the base model and the back of that is open with no storage tray or cover on it. If you have a + or !, you would have to remove or modify the storage tray.

There's a side benefit to having the compact spare if you have the under-floor organizer. Without it, there's no good center support for the floor organizer, which in turn is the support for the fold-up floor that goes on top. I found this out the hard way when I carried about 100 pounds of solid landscaping blocks in the back and put a slight warp in my organizer & upper floor. I managed to work most of it out, but there's just no good support in the middle without that spare.

As far as where to locate the spare, since you should only be using it long enough to get your other tire fixed, it shouldn't matter. I see people driving around on donuts all the time and it's a really foolish thing to do.
