Has anyone taken their back seats out? Got a picture?

Today, I was thinking how the Soul would actually make an awesome small van if you took the back seats out. I see there's a platform the seat bottom sits on, but other than that little footwell area there would be a quite large cargo area back there.

I did a search and saw a couple people ask about this, but it was a couple years ago. Has anyone taken their back seat out and have some kind of picture? I'm curious about this because no one will likely ever ride in my backseat - my car is a single-driver commuter - but it would be nice to have a bigger area for my dog to hang out in. Right now I don't take her (she a Lab) in the Soul because it's kind of cramped for her compared to my other vehicle. But the Soul gets better gas mileage and would fit easier in some places.

I understand there's no carpet under the seat base, which makes sense. Has anyone done this?

I loosen the back seat pads (the part your butt touches) when I was putting on the seat cover, but didn't remove the whole thing.

Wouldn't it be easier to just leave the back seat folded down all the time instead of taking it out? This way the back will be one even area. If you take out the seat pads you'll have different height in the back.

Not necessarily. If it were cool, I could easily build a couple of wooden fillers to level out the floor. The same way that people build the shelf to have the flat back with the seat down.

the seats are simple to get out, I had mine out for a day.

One thing to remember is that the hatch is very very small, making it nearly useless to haul anything.

Now, if you level the inside and make a hardwood floor like alot of VW guys do in hatchbacks, it would look awesome

Man, too bad you didn't have pictures

I don't think I would be hauling sheetrock or plywood or anything like that. I'm more talking about hauling my dog in comfort. Being down low to the floor is safer for the dog than on the seat, unless you harness them in, and then they can't move around.
