    2013 Kia Soul + Moss (Eco)

    Found my Soul(mate)! But am I getting a deal?

    So my local Kia dealer finally located the car I wanted...

    -2013 Kia Soul +
    -Automatic
    -Moss Green
    -Eco Package
    -Rear Bumper Applique
    -Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror w/ Compass (no Homelink)
    -iPod Cable
    -Carpet Mats
    -Cargo Tray/Mat/Liner

    They are swapping with another dealer some 70ish miles away. They would not talk about price until the car comes (is that a bad sign?)
    But the listed price is $19,700. Sounds like a lot to me, but how much do you think I could talk them down to? If I could get it for $19K I will be happy.

    its actually not bad. the soul + in san diego runs 22k

    but i recommend you custom build that exact soul on the kia website and compare it to the price that they are selling it to you for. its generally cheaper online. you can talk them down that way

    For the price you can wait for one that has UVO (better than the Eco package IMO) Here's what I paid for mine a few months ago.

    2013 Soul + Automatic in Bright Silver $17,700
    + UVO Audio Package $900
    + Carpeted Floor mats $115
    + Cargo Net $50
    + Cargo Tray $80
    + Wheel Locks $50
    + Destination Fee $775
    --------------------
    Total MSRP sticker price $19,670

    Dealer "cost" is $18,965. I paid $18,200 before tax & fees, after $500 rebate by financing through Kia (I then refinance through my bank at a lower APR, not cost)

    If I was willing to wait I probably could've talk the price down another $100. But I really wanted the car that weekend LOL.

    I built that on the KIA site and the listed price is the same as what my build-a-Soul gave me. I didn't particularly want the Eco package but for some odd reason the Moss color is near impossible to come across where I live. At,least in the plus model. I don't need UVO or anything, didn't want any options actually but I just wanted it in moss.

    Build the car on edmunds.com to see both MSRP and "invoice".

    Go to truecar.com and get a guaranteed price from a dealer, but dou't buy it at there. Use it to negotiate another dealer down to a price even lower.

    Shoot for less than invoice, settle for "invoice" as a maximum.

    My opinion is they want to get the exact car on lot, then pressure you into buying your dream car.

    Not that its an apples to apples comparison, but my '13 base manual trans with floormats and iPod cable MSRP'd for $15,319 and I paid $13,556.

    ^^ yeah definitely start the bargaining process at the "invoice" price and work your way down. Personally I wouldn't pay a cent above "invoice" price, with dealer incentives from manufacturer they will still have a healthy profit margin.

    To get the best deal, you need to be able to walk away when the salesman is bullying you around. Just remember, they've already traded for the car, if you don't buy it, then they are stuck with it. Who knows if someone else is gonna want the exact color and load out? So you have the advantage.

    If you don't want the Eco package I would recommend skip this one and just wait for the one you really want to be in stock (probably 1 to 2 months). The eco package is not very good from what I've read.

    I would wait. I did'nt because my husband was in a hurry to buy. Not another one anywhere in sight. Two weeks later they had 3 moss,a Dune and a white.
