Thread: Soul Wreck = $ 1000.00 damage

Yes after 3 ½ years & 99,000 miles of city driving my 2010 Soul, I got into a car accident.

I was just driving along a major road & my lane, most left of 3, was slowing up for a red signal & suddenly I notice the car behind me squealing & smoking tires coming at me. Imminent collision about to happen ! Traffic moved up a little gave me a chance to accelerate & move slightly to the center lane, She was fishtailing skidding but veered some to the middle lane when the contact was made. Felt like It collapsed the rear corner of the Soul. When I got out & checked on her & then finally saw the minimal damage I was relieved. She told me she was distracted & took total blame. She was on her way home from work, I was on my way to work. No police, just exchanged info. She had Progressive insurance & they made things very easy, cut me a check for $ 1077.00 & If actual repairs ran more than that they would pay the difference.

Here what 1000.00 looks like, adjuster did say some metal mounting flanges were bent

Bummer. Glad no one was hurt. Your soul took it pretty well too. Looks like a low-speed collision.

I got rear ended back in September I was sitting at a light and a lady that was also waiting for the same light behind me. Hit me she was stopped and for some reason moved forward it did $1300. damage and only cracked her license plate holder. I still go to a chiropractor for my neck.

I can believe it. A new bumper is about $500 plus paint and labor. It could of been a lot worse.

I have been hit from the rear at least 5 times. Good to hear no one got hurt. TPH

That's too bad Soul Rush. I thought you already had a Soul Accident before. Not sure what I was thinking. Was your Soul out of commission before for something else?

At the risk of sounding like an old fogey, this is why cars had bumpers back in the day. Hell, bumper use was an integral part of parking in NYC. Those 2 big rubber pads at the front and back absorbed the impact, and unless someone knocked your car into the street you never even knew you'd been bumped.

... and you used to jack your car up by the bumper and attach your ball hitch by screwing it through the hole in your bumper.
