Thread: 15,000mi Service Interval Price

Just made my appointment for my 15,000 mile service and they quoted me for $177 for everything. This seems a little pricy to me. Is it???

Also I haven't told them I'm supplying my own motor oil and I'm not having them change my cabin air filter because I just did it. But i'll be buying their engine filter and installing it myself. This should cut down on the price too.

get a detail list of exactly what is included in that price, then you will have a better idea.

You can do the inspection yourself, and the Kia Soul Oil Filter should be no more than $6 and change.

I personally eliminate the engine air cleaner too, by using the K&N washable, lifetime, filter.

Let us know, how that all turns out.

What are they doing at 15k miles? An oil change etc at local dealers here runs like $30+ or so. That doesn't seem like enough miles to do much.

^^ that's dealer recommended, not what Kia actually recommends according to the manual (see page 7|11).

Some of these dealers are merciless and will take you for a very expen$$ive ride for routine service like this. The 15K is pretty routine, mainly it's fuel additive, O&F, and rotate tires.

...and stick with the OEM engine filter. They are only $20 or so and you only need one every two years and filter MUCH better than the K&N filters.

I was planning on sticking with Kia's Filter because it traps more. And I wanted to know if I need to add a fuel additive from chevron because being a 19 year old college student with a tight budget I stick to cheaper non top tier fuel. Like Arco and Costco.
I know in the 2011 soul manual it says that you have to contact Kia if you want to add a fuel additive. But the 2012 model it says that its good to add every 15,000mi if you don't use top tier. Both 2.0L engines and MPI. So should I ask them about that because I really never get my MPG that the sticker price says of 24 City and 30 Highway.

As for my regular oil changes every 5,000mi it is around $30. But from now on I am going to Costco to get Mobil 1 synthetic because its 6 quarts for $30. So if it costs me the same at the dealer it makes more sense to go with mobil 1. I hit my 5,000mi every 7 to 8 months as I don't drive much.
