The new Steering wheel looked pretty funky with everything on it. But the set up of the audio kind of reminded me of a Supra the way it faces you more.

What I find particularly awesome is that for once, Hunday/Kia group were careful not to make a former model completely obsolete style wise.
Hunday are the best in this regard I find. These 180 degree shifts styling wise do hurt the reselling value of former models.
It clearly won't be the case with the Soul. The 2014 model looks great, but nothing to entirely discredit 2010's models. As much as 8 years after its release, 2010 model will still shine even when placed next to a 2018 model (given that the 2014 platform remains pretty much the same). That's a tour de force!
confirmed, the 2014 Soul will be announced at the NY Auto Show in late March, along with the 2014 Forte Koup and the revised 2014 Optima sedan.

Last summer, I participated in a paid market research survey here in southern CA. It was conducted by an independent firm, but it was obvious that KIA sponsored the event. No cameras were allowed and each participant was given a netbook computer to answer various questions on the 4 cars they had on display with names and logos masked. The cars were the Nissan Cube, Scion xB, current KIA Soul (2012) and what I assume to be the prototype of 2014 KIA Soul.
I believe the participants were current owners of the 3 vehicles. We had to sit down at tables and answer some standard demographics questions and some questions on the likes and dislikes of boxy cars and what features are important and why. Then we were escorted into the curtained off area where the cars were on display. They had us view the cars from multiple angles and evaluate their designs from each point.
What I remember about the prototype is that the front profile resembled the xB a lot, meaning higher bumper line and more angular hood edges. In the back, the tail light panel was black from top to bottom, and the bumper was more rounded and flush against the body. The roof line didn't slope down from front to back, and the wheel arches were not as pronounced as the current model. As far as the dash and interior/seat trim, they had 3 different ones on display. I thought the most attractive one was the one with many rounded and soft edges, resembling that of MINI Cooper.
It'll be interesting to see how the 2014 production model looks.
there is possibly a few odd new shots in this article, but most are what we've already seen

I like the headlights, I hope they are interchangeable with the '12
Man I can't stand the look of that dash. I think they completely ruined that part of the car.
