What kind of vehicle did you replace with your Soul, or is it an additional vehicle?
I am curious to know what type of vehicle did you trade-in, sell or replace when you bought your Soul? I replaced a fully loaded 2008 GMC Acadia. Very big difference, but really enjoying the Soul.
traded in a 2008 Rondo 2.4L EX. Very good car, economical and very reliable, the reason I purchased another KIA. I also wanted another vehicle with the ease of entry and exit like the Rondo and of course heated seats. Liked a lot of the features of the 2012 Soul that sold me and made the change.
I replaced my 68 buggy with my Soul. I have the same concept between both vehicles: an inexpensive car that can get me back into the bush with the kids so we can "go exploring!"
I replaced a 2002 Ford Ranger w/ 130,000 miles. Bought 7/17/2002, sold 7/14/2012, almost exactly 10 years. I had a few costly repairs, but nothing huge, but I just had a bad feeling that the motor or tranny would go any day. Sold for 400 above KBB too! A nice downpayment!
Moving from Canada to the US, I had no US credit history. Even though I'm into Hyundai/Kia, Honda was the only major manufacturer who looked at my Canadian credit history for lease/finance. So I leased a 2009 CRV for my wife in order to build up my US credit history. Now that it's good, the Kia dealer bought out the lease on that gas guzzling CRV for an extra $800 and I got us the Soul.
Nice XJ! I had an 1988 XJ Lareado 4x4 with the 4.0L same color as yours. Miss that baby! Engine was bullet proof! It was stolen in Albuquerque the night before I moved to Tucson. Recovered the same day completely totaled. Used the insurance money to buy my 2001 Grand Cherokee Limited with the 4.7L.........biggest mistake ever! LOL!!
2001 Mistubishi Montero Sport w/ 165,000 miles for a 2012 Soul+ with 163 miles. Needed something with better MPG that I could fit comfortably in. I actually have more head, leg, and hip room.
I replaced my '02 Dodge Dakota quad cab with a 2012 Clear White Soul (base).
The soul is my new daily driver, but the dakota is still my work truck (I own a small furniture delivery company haha)
I have been driving a 1990 Honda CRX-SI for a long, long time
and have just bought a 2013 Kia Soul 4U Luxury. It is a totally different animal from my speeding bullet CRX, but I am loving the Soul, just as I knew I would when I saw her
We traded in 2 cars for our soul ( I think we are calling her "raven" now). My 2001 ranger with 137k miles. Was a fleet truck, 5 speed manual with3.0 liter v6, sliding rear window and camper shell. Got $5300 for it. Not bad considering it had a large dent in the door. Some "good old boy" from georgia bought it.
We also got rid if a 1995 Honda civic with 254k miles. That POS leaked oil everywhere and had a overheating problem. In all I lost about $1000 on that car, but I put over 10k miles on it in 4 months. I had to get rid of it before it broke down. Paid $1100 for it, put new tires, new struts, alignment, new distributer, new catalytic converter and more into it. Sold it for $1700. Lts just say I had to polish that turd a bit to get this guy to take it
Best I can do is to say what kind of car I will replace (I hope) with a Soul someday. It's a red 1998 Honda Civic 2-door hatchback that my mom generously gave our family when we were struggling to make do with a single minivan. It's pretty reliable, gets good gas mileage, and has pretty fair cargo space (for a small car) with the back seat folded down, but the headroom is barely adequate and the back seat (when not folded down) is mighty hard for passengers to get into. Our daughters now use the Civic a lot to commute to and from the local university they attend, etc. I hope my wife and I will be able to pass it on to one or both of them, and get a Soul for ourselves. Then our Sedona (very useful for carrying large objects, more than 4 people, etc., though a bit of a gas guzzler) will become our second car.
Dumped my 2005 Mini S (supercharged) with a 6 speed stick for the 2012 Soul +, 2.0 liter stick in Alien.
The Mini could be a blast. It accelerated smartly and could take a sharp turn at almost 35 mph. It was like driving a motorized, high-powered roller skate.
But, it was costing me about $3,500-$4,500 a year in repairs and maintenance (and not from a dealer). A water pump was $1,250 (the part was about $250). The run flat tires kept going flat (6 in a year, so I replaced all the tires with regular ones and snows). I threw in the towel after spending $5,000 this year in 7 weeks, and then being told the rack was going.
I love the Soul. It's more comfortable, quieter, and pretty quick with the 2.0 and stick. But, I want to get more performance upgrades. I do like to roll.

.
a relative of my wife had a BMW Mini and enjoyed it but he said it was very expensive to maintain and he had to have serious work done on the transmission and that cost him $7500. He doesn't have it now.
2002 Mini Cooper S after having the car for 10 years and being milked to death from BMW/MINI and needing my 2nd clutch Great car but the Soul is much more quiet and comfortable (esp. on longer trips).
My 2012 Soul Base is my 15th car (showing my age). A few years ago I downsized and ended up with a 1998 Subaru Outback Legacy - paid for (a gift from an ex). It leaked oil, of course, for a car with a 150,000+ miles on it. But, when it blew a head gasket (still was able to drive it for six months after figuring out what was wrong), I decided I didn't want to spend another $2000 on a car with that many miles, plus fix the other two sensors that were making the check engine light stay on. I decided three years without a car payment was pretty good and four weeks ago today I broke down and bought my Soul. So nice to drive and not worry about overheating at every red light or in rush hour traffic!! I love this thing.
and as much as I liked my Suzuki SX4, the SOUL had a lot of eye appeal, and features. Feels like my old Mazda Pickup in its sure-footed stance and surpasses everything I have had for ease of entry and seating posture.
We run the 4 lane in and out of Ottawa, about 30 mi West, 3-6 times a week for work and consulting and hence I wanted to include CRUISE CONTROL.
At most times, we are able to control whether we go in or not, if the weather is bad. Too bad of weather and we cancel, IF we CAN.
For the times that we CANNOT or get stuck at work when the weather closes down, we usually make a 95% decision to go home, unless its raining rocks.
In those circumstances I wanted Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control to make my trip a bit less of white-knuckle-steering-wheel deathgrip trip
and the Soul met all those equipment requirements as well as as good a safety record as possible.
I replaced my 2009 Nissan Versa 1.8 (bare bones) 6 speed manual with a used 2012 Soul + with leather. I wanted the Soul back in 2009 when I got the Versa but at the time I was put off by the road noise and price. Little did I know buying the Versa I'd get a fairly quite drive only to get stuck with massive amounts of body roll. If I could do it all again I'd just bought a Soul then and found a way to lessen the road noise. Not that I didn't like the Versa I did. It's just in the space of a year I got rear ended twice, ended up with back and leg issues and side swiped once. After that I had a near head on and the final straw came when a large pickup truck tried to merge into my lane while I was still in it.
