Thread: Trip computer red lights

I have now been driving my Soul for about three weeks and I still have a hard time reading the red display of the trip computer data. Does anyone else have problems with that? Does anyone know if the colour display can be changed. Green would be so much easier to read like the "ECO" light. And no, I am not colour blind.

yes it can be difficult depending on your outside light conditions, bright sun or wearing sunglasses can wipe it out or make it hard to read. No you can't change the colour or if it can never heard or seen anything about it. They should have made it like the regular gauges as those you can read under any conditions. However, the computer data is not something you have to look at constantly, so its nothing major.

I do like to watch the data, especially the mileage. I'll ask the dealer if anything can be done. It's gotta be some kind of led.

Let us know if you figure out anything to do. As I posted in another thread, I too am having trouble seeing with the digits in red LED.

I can't read the red too well with sunglasses on, but to me it is very legible if I lift them momentarily. Or at night, when I'm not wearing them .

I didn't really like the red at first - in my experience red lights on the dash are used to indicate a problem. But after 3 months or so I guess I have become accustomed to them. I can recall being frustrated with green readouts for the odometer when those first appeared, and I got used to them, also. Hopefully anyone who is bothered by the red will adapt to it soon.

Any updates on this? I can't stand the RED!! I want blue and I'd be willing to change it out myself!

Red is used because it is very easy on the eyes in low light conditions, that's why you see many semis with a red light above the front seats. This allows us to light up our cabin to see things, but not blind us from the outside.

Me, too... I want blue! The red is just too hard to read for those of us over a certain age. I don't care if it is suppose to be helpful, because it is NOT for me. Anyone know know how to do this?

not sure if this would work, but just had a thought - what about some sort of coloured film (not camera film) that you could cut to fit and place over that area in the colour of your choice I think something like that might be at a office supply store or similar.

I changed the color on my compass mirror to turn the green into a more red/amber color to better match the Soul's interior. I am sure the reverse cam be done using colored gels. I got the one I used from a local hobby store. I think model train builders use it because that was the section of the store I found it in.
