    1st. Scheduled Maintenance

Took my Soul + for it's first visit to a dealer. Since I had put
new tires on it and already changed oil & filter they didn't
charge me for the visit and signed my maintenance log. Told
me to keep receipts for oil & filter. I told them about my more
frequent oil changes and they said 5,000 miles is fine between
changes but more frequent is fine.

What a difference between dealers. Well worth the 30 minute
drive. They seemed to appreciate someone who takes care of
their car. I'll go back for sure. Wish more businesses showed
    same attitude.

The dealer's name is C.Harper near Pittsburgh on Rt. 51 South.

    C. Harper? I NEVER saw that dealer carry a single Soul in their inventory in the several times I checked their inventory (and those of other dealers) for a 2012 Kia Soul Exclaim. Glad to hear they do good service, though!

My dealer also seemed to appreciate good maintenance practices by me. They originally said 7,500 miles between oil changes, but kind of grinned and agreed when I said "No, every 3k." I'm glad you have a good experience there.

I found out the service manager at my Kia dealer was flown to Korea and trained for a couple of months before he could get his certification. That makes me feel better too.

It's because we're all morbidly obese. The cars have to work much harder.

It's a conspiracy man! The oil companies are in bed with the car companies!

Crazy, but actually true. I have no idea where the 3k miles/3 months oil changes thing came from. It's a total scam and a total waste.

I typically go between 5 and 6 thousand miles, though on occasion I'll go over 7.

I use the "consider your source" method.

If its blatantly obvious that the source providing the information has something to gain from you, then i call BS. For example, the autzone commercials and their recommendations.

I get "free" oil changes every 5K. And by "free" I mean I pay 10 bux for the "difference" in cost between the conventional oil and synthetic. Of course they recommended synthetic.

When I picked mine up the service writer asked me if I will be bringing it in for service.

The salesrep told her, "No, he does all his own work... you should see his 14year old, 162,000 mile Jeep."

She smiled and said. "Good, but don't wait to 7500 miles to change the oil."

I told her "Nope, I do it every 3000."

    She said "Good."
