Exclamation Kia Soul Driver killed in Beltway 8 accident...

Just thought i'd post this. It happened last night. The guy was apparently flying through a construction zone and hit a curb. He lost control and slammed into one of the concrete pillars that supports the overpass...he was going so fast that he actually knocked the pillar over. He was ejected from the vehicle and pinned underneath the pillar...:/

It won't display the video on here properly, it keeps showing up as a code, so here's the link to the khou news website. there's a 2min video showing the damage to our beloved Soul. Driver killed after being ejected, pinned under car in Beltway 8 accident | khou.com Houston

I'm trying to figure out if he was drunk or not or just simply lost control. If that pillar was knocked all the way from under the overpass to the side than dayummmmmmmmmmm son.

Yep, saw it on the news, probably DWI and lost control. Those pillars just wont move out of the way.

Looked more like a barrier section than a pillar, in fact the news article even states:

HOUSTON – A driver died early Sunday morning when his car hit a concrete barrier on the Sam Houston Parkway, according to the Houston Police Department.
HPD said that the man was traveling east in a Kia Soul at 12:15 a.m. on the feeder road near Spencer Highway when he hit a construction concrete barrier and flipped his car over.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and ended up pinned under the car, police said. Responders from the Houston Fire Department were able to extract the driver.
He was then sent to Ben Taub Hospital where he later died from his injuries, police said.
Maybe they meant to say that they extracted him from the pillar.

just proves that wearing your seat-belts can possibly save your life, obviously that person wasn't otherwise he wouldn't have ejected and more than likely be alive.

They should pull the EDR to see what speed he was going and what was going on in the car at that time.

The cabin appears largely intact and from what I've seen it's pretty robust.
If this guy was drunk, speeding, and unbelted, he hit the trifecta and has moved on to the next world.

There are privacy rights regarding the box, it's state by state law. Cops can't always just yank the thing and analyze it. Which is good.

The guy's family isn't dead. Allow them to have some privacy.

I'm not saying to post the EDR to the whole world for them to see. I'm jut saying they should check. Maybe the power steering failed at that speed. This isn't the first time on the fourm we've seen it. Or it could have been a tire blow out. Just saying there are so many factors to include. It may have been his fault or part of the car that failed. Him not wearing the seatbelt was beyond stupid. I had seatbelts save my life twice in accidents that I was the victim in.
