Brake / Gas Pedals too Close ?

Anybody have trouble with accidentally pressing both pedals at same time? I know I do !

I'm 6' 7" & size 15 shoe and if I'm not careful I can easily press both together.

I haven't look closely, or asked the dealer or service dept
If it's possible to move brake pedal away from gas pedal by just an inch or more ?

I'm about the same size as you and haven't noticed any problem, but that's mostly compared to the mini cooper I used to drive, where the pedals were definitely too close together.

That's a great question Soul Rush. On a side note I was reading of a problem with Ford Escapes. The pedals are moved slightly more apart & drivers have complained that their foot slips to the floor, getting stuck under both pedals. Kinda dangerous.

I've got a MT, so we don't have the oversized brake pedal. I wonder if you could have it substituted? I drive with heavy boots on alot and never have any trouble accidentally depressing both pedals.

    Best of luck.

Yes I have had this happen a couple of times in my 2014 SOUL... I have size 13's...
Yes the design is not quite right... Brake peddle is a little to close for Big Shoes, or maybe people that are wearing BOOTS... It is not safe, and disconcerting when your car is jumping around like its got a mind of its own... Especially when your braking for a car right in front of you...!!!...<:-((
Note: NEVER had this happen on any other car I owned...
Note: Do I think there should be a Recall, YES I DO...!!! There may be Accident statistics about this piling up...???
Note: One of my other cars is a Smart car, and is the Smallest Car Sold in America, and I NEVER had this happen...YUP

Yes, especially first couple months, but once past that learning curve it rarely happened next 7 yrs.
There is definitely something different between the '10 & '17
The '17 pedals seem about even in height & harder to tell I'm on both ?
Just part of this new Soul learning curve . . . .

I have had this issue with other cars in the past but I haven't tried driving with big boots on in my Soul yet.

On one of the cars I actually cut the pedal down so a stick brake pedal fit and on another I cut a piece off of one side and welded it to the other so the stock pedal fit. The welded one was the nicest but it was a pain covering everything so no damage was caused by the weld spatter. I just wear a size 13 EEE myself.

I have had this problem in the past (Kia Rondo). I also have size 15 4E feet. My solution: Take a saw and cut off the right side of the brake pedal. If you cut it just before the center shaft, your foot will hit it on just the right spot. Save the rubber pedal cover and trim it to fit. You'll need some adhesive to get the pedal cover to stay on, but it's a small price to pay. It's one of the best mods I've ever done to the car. It makes the car a dream to drive for those of us with big feet.

I also try to wear shoes with thinner souls. This will allow you to fit your foot under the pedal when entering / exiting the car, and while on long stretches of highway using cruise control.

I've had less problem with this in the Soul. I may do the mod now that I've thought about it again.

I have size 9's and that hasnt even entered my mind. I've not once with my 13 - 15 Soul hit the brake/gas instead. I wear running shoes alot even for work so maybe why since the soles are thin/narrow.

I have a MT, and my commute is roughly 1.5 miles each way, and I have yet to experience this issue. I wear a size 12 shoe so perhaps that that is a factor as well.
