    Rattle from dash....Base MT

Quiet as a mouse most times, but at speed on slightly rough road, I get a rattle which sounds like it comes from the upper dashboard perhaps within the vent. While driving, I think it is in the right speaker or door, wife thinks its in the middle....if I lean way over toward the center, suddenly the sound is clearly coming from the vent area.... Has anyone had this problem and diagnosed it? Has anyone removed the vent cover in the dash and have suggestions on how to safely access that area? Thanks in advance for your help/suggestions.....

My car has the same thing, started around 2000 miles. I tried tracking it down for a while, but finally just gave up and turned the radio up higher.

I have the same issue. It seems to be coming from the passenger vent area. Today, I closed that vent and it went away.

I have an intermittent one on our 2014+. Best guess is the center console area near the vent, but source not identified yet.

I've noticed on these cold mornings, when everthing in the car is brittle, noises will crop up more on bumpy roads. As the Iterior warms they disappear.

Chasing car rattles is pure detective work. Good luck you guys.

Today, I warmed the dash in the sun... I took off the vent cowling and the center speaker blank and drove around awhile...rattling persisted...after feeling around inside....(and from a bit of frustration...I started banging on the dash quite hard (no one in the passenger seat, otherwise I would have been a bit fearful of the airbag)....the problem lessened, it seemed....so, (hit it with a bigger hammer) method invoked, I hit it some more, even harder.....got maybe one or two rattles thereafter....who knows...we'll wait and see what happens....
BTW, this must be a fairly common problem as the other used vehicle I almost bought, 2015 with 11k mi. had the same issue. Thanks to everyone for responding...

I know it sounds very weird, but if you have sunglasses in the holder take them out. Had the same rattle, now I don't.

Nope, not that.....thought I had it today though....looking under the hood, the cowling under the windshield against the firewall was a bit loose and seemed to make the same rattle when I tweaked it....stuffed some foam rubber underneath....nada...didn't fix it.

I'm beginning to believe that it has something to do with the airbag in the dash on the passenger side....anyone ever had the guts/gumption to pull the crash pad???? Scary...but I HATE rattles though it really only now occurs very infrequently on just the right set of bumps.

Hey Bill, would you consider taking it into the dealer for diagnosis? I know that can be frustrating but maybe they have a mechanic onboard who is familiar with weird rattles.

Might be worth a try since it's so new and tell them you're unhappy about it. They want you as a customer so maybe they'll step up to the plate.

    Best of luck.
