How long did you spend @ the dealer to buy your Soul ??

    So quick survey,
How long did it take for you to buy a Soul ?

I went late on a friday & pretty soon salesman asks, so can we make a deal ?
My answer was "no, just came to look tonight & drive a Turbo....Besides, last time it took 5 hours"
He say oh will get you out of here quicker than that !

My total time @ dealership was right @ 5 hours again !

On the day I went to test drive it and make the deal, probably about 2-3 hours, when I went to pick it up about another 1-2 hours, it was quicker than the previous purchase as it was so cold I couldn't do my normal checks which usually takes about half-hour (everything was immaculate, even when I went over more closely the following day).

I always try to go during the day and when the service department is open so that if anything needs correcting or questions answered everyone is available. It's not a product that I purchase where I can see how fast I can get out of there - not when I spending that kind of money!

At time of projected purchase I made up a list for the sales guy so he clearly knew what I wanted in the way of accessories and also what I didn't want, so then we didn't have to waste time about him trying to sell me additions and so both of us knew exactly where we stood. It was probably a bit different in my case as I've know the sales manager ever since I bought my first KIA in November 2007 and he knows very well what I know. There is always a bit of give and take on the price agreement and I generally have the figures to back my side up, but it always goes well and never frustrating and he knows its not something I really need to purchase. We've always got along well and he's always been very helpful any time I go in for service over the years, one of the reasons I always get my vehicle service there.

the average time it takes for a car deal from start to finish is 4 hours.... this isnt something you just drop in an do real quick. when i was a salesman, the majority of the time was taken for the customer to decide what they wanted... short period of time negotiating on price/payments. If credit isn't an issue then you will spend much less time. if credit challenged then more time waiting on a bank to approve the loan.

Even if you come in knowing EXACTLY what you want, there is still at least 2 hours of time... time for signing and time for make ready.

before i went info the finance department the majority of my deals were already negociated online or over the phone... the in stock unit was already decided... i would get the car ready and gassed up before the customer came in. my paperwork would be done as well... i'd have the customer sign off of the numbers and any forms for me, then go into finance que for signing.

My experience has been 3 to 5 hours, the same as most folks find. But since research is so much easier with the internet, it takes me less time to point to the car. Most dealerships have inventory on line and it is usually fairly, but not completely, accurate. These days, takes me about three hours total time but I pay cash, insist on not being sold anything more, get an OTD price and am on my way. Still it is generally a boring time. One thing that helps is to have my bottom line in hand before I get there. That way I can get up and leave without wasting a lot of my time and the dealership's time.

4 to 5 hours for me,you go there with the mentality that the price you have in mind is going to be set on stone.....but no,they start adding $ for this, $ for that and at the end your monthly payment is other than what you had in mind.

4 hours for me. Included trade in of old car plus financing to take advantage of Kias $1,000 cash if you used KMFC. The extended warranty Dog & Pony show was 30 minutes I'll never get back.

Salesman brought the car to my house, I test drove it, he called two hours later with the price and I bought it on the phone with a credit card deposit. I had already researched the price on the internet and he was right where it was supposed to be. He sent a driver to my house the next day to pick me up and I drove the car home.

Over at Hyundai you have to buy a Genesis to get that sort of treatment.

Roughly 45 minutes. I told the salesman what I was looking for- low kms, no accidents, AT- he brought one around, I gave it a look-over and i took it out for a 10 minute drive. I asked him to put it on a lift for me so i could look underneath and I asked to see copies of the Carfax and dealership maintenance records. It looked ok so i paid for it and drove off.
