    'Severe weather' 1234 service schedule?

Any know for sure if this schedule offered by the dealer is an official Kia recommended service schedule or a dealer recommended service schedule? Confused.

It's not mentioned in the owner manual, so I don't think it is an official Kia recommendation.

On the other hand, freezing temperatures or salt on the roads push maintenance into the "severe conditions" category. I'd expect that Winnipeg would fit that. So it might just be a dealer who's found another way to say "severe conditions".

I presume you are talking about the brochure that is provided by all dealers with regards "Recommended Maintenance intervals" - "Canada is considered a 'severe weather' climate.' I would say Winnipeg would meet the severe conditions, so follow that schedule.

What have you been doing so far zerogee?

What's in the dealers brochure is recommended service, what is in the owners manual maintenance section is a necessary requirement. At all service intervals check one against the other and if what the dealer suggests is over and above the owners manual maintenance then you decide if you want to accept it.
I don't drive a lot so my dealer works with me with regards their service intervals and says that some of it isn't necessary based on my kilometers. I do take it in for service based on time (every 6 months) not kilometers. It's very rare that I ever pay the full service fee for services 2,3 or 4.

My own Kia dealership Service Manager, (here in Central FL) has told me that he considers every Kia driven in FL is driven within the parameters for "Severe Driving Conditions", because they are all driven under one or more of the conditions listed under Condition C, E, F, & K. Any one condition qualifies a car for Severe Driving Conditions.
It's not the end of the world though, it just means that they require aggressive Maintenance.

Heck, I quality for all four! So I change my oil and filter every 3k miles and service my K&N Air Cleaner whenever it turns from pink to brown, or every 6 K miles, which ever comes first.

And, when I've changed my Cabin Air Cleaner once a year on Ivanka's birthday, I find that it's gotten pretty funky. So this year I'm increasing my Cabin Air Cleaner change routine to every 6 months. I only use the FRAM FRESH BREEZE cabin air cleaner, for the freshest air possible inside my car. Since I have allergies to almost anything that can become air-born, it's nice to have well filtered air being brought into my car.

    Happy Trails, Mates!

Severe service is not the issue. I fall into D with some C. My last car was 5000km or 6 months, so Kias is better that way. I was mostly looking for people's thoughts on this 1234 service schedule.

I have been following it minus the items that over and above. If I fell into more of the severe categories I would maybe do some of the over and above stuff too.

I was in data / wifi dead zone for awhile the reason for the late reply.

I see that I can't edit my last post, so for those who have no idea what we're talking about, with the different "Letters" here's the whole list, taken right from my Kia Soul Owners Manual.

As I've said before, my own Kia Service manager told me that he considers every Florida owned and driven Soul to be driven under Severe Service conditions. "I pity the fool", (quote Mr. T) that thinks his Florida Soul should be serviced only once a year.

Those Severe Service conditions would certainly carry over to any car that's driven in a coastal area.

    Cheers Mates!
