    Factory Tint on 2017 +

In case anyone is wondering. I had a local shop match the factory tints on my 2017. They used a machine to scan the factory tint on the front and rear windows.

    Windshield is 70%
    Front windows are 70%
    Rear windows are 26%

I asked them to match up the fronts with the rears. Here is a before and after.

Also... off topic. But if anyone is interested in Husky Liners WeatherBeater Floor Liners - they fit very good. Here they are installed. I was able to get front/rear shipped for about $113

Looks like they did a good job gt!

I was curious why you tinted the front windows. Is it too bright or more of a privacy issue?

Where I live it's illegal to tint the fronts that dark. I'll still see it though on some cars.

In MN passenger cars cannot have over 50% tint on side or rear windows, unless it's OEM. Unless you call it a "van" ("box-like vehicle with no separation between driver and cargo"). But even there, the front side windows can't be over 50%.

There is a National Standard for all new cars entering the Country. Each State can then allow something different by aftermarket but not by manufacturer. Ct is known for stopping cars with front side windows that look too dark and generally disregard the rear side unless they want a reason to stop you. (Stupid law but you are not protected when entering a State with more stringent tint regs)

"All car windows from the manufacturer must allow 70 percent of visible light through" (Link refers to National Standard not just Mass)

Considering the general attitude and behavior towards police officers these days, I would keep it legal. I went with ceramic and maximum allowable by the state of Florida all around.
Looks good, keeps the car cooler and protected and I'm in within the states legal limit.

Both glare and privacy. If you get stopped just be respectable to police.. all windows down, all interior lights on, engine off with key on top of dash, hazards on, both hands on steering wheel. 99% of the time if you make the police comfortable as they are approaching and genuine and nice you won't be getting a ticket.

Well if you have tint too Dark.... New law in NY, NC possibly other states that I am not aware of. It is in response to the increased danger of Police stopping cars so I anticipate more States are going to crack down too.

This is a hot topic not a good time to have darker tint than allowed, it's being discussed on the News and why I knew about the links I posted. In and around Uconn they are already stopping cars with tint that appears too dark.

I read about that too. Heard all the inspection shops are pissed because the state is not giving them any money yet requiring them to buy all the tools necessary to check tint levels during inspection process. Shops have to come out of pocket for tools/supplies, must charge the same amount of money, take longer times to inspect cars and get nothing from city/state for it so they are not happy about this law. Also heard that it won't be entirely enforced for another year or so until all shops get the proper tools to check tints. (I am guessing its the device that measures tint levels by placing it on the glass and probably a few other things..)
