    Expected life of Soul Clutch

I have a Soul Sport 5 speed, and happened to ask my service rep about the cost to replace the clutch when it becomes necessary...he told me about $995...any ideas on what sort of life we can expect out of the Soul clutch...obviously varies per driver, but ballpark. Dealer could not tell me other than they had not done one yet, and they had Souls with 40K on them already...

My daughter has a Kia Sophia and about 65,000 she had to replace her clutch. The mechanic did say there was not much of it left and wondered why she waited so long since it made a such a racket when she brought it in. It just started to go the day before bringing it in.

My daughter is 22 and that is most of what she has driven. She was hard on an automatic. The Kia had shift lights and that has helped her alot.

^^ thanks again and nothing against your daughter but knowing she was hard on automatic and this was her first clutch seems to indicate that the soul clutch will/can last for well over 100,000 - or so i am inclined to think/believe lol

I would expect a clutch to last a minimum 100,000 miles these days with normal driving. I have never had to replace one in 30 years motoring.

Yes Klas I agree, but I don't have to pay for the clutch.

If, if you don't abuse the clutch and have it serviced regularly it should last the life of your car.

I've personally never owned an automatic, only manual transmission cars. Never have I needed to replace a clutch. 255,000km on the subaru, 298,000km on the honda, 220,000km on the toyota; all on the original clutch

Yes klas and Bratboy I agree. My son is now 26 and I taught him at 16 on the Z3 1.9L. He is and was a champ. One of ten for real no lie in his HS class that can or would even try to drive stick. Amazingly too now that he is in the US NAVY after Uni. It would shock you how many there can not either. I myself taught myself at 13 on a 1958 GMC 350 (big gas I6) 9ton flatbed. My take, is you drive stick well you can drive ANYTHING! Key words for me too were "she was hard on an automatic". NYC cab drivers speaking broken english are hard on automatics too. So a stick just begs to not be wise. And thou I have seen the data on both counts. Clutchs tend to yes last @100,000 on most all cars. Now a stick BASE 1.6L SOUL 5spd with a 1000kl trailer would tend to NOT be one of them. But some will do this and one or two here.

My Toyota Supra Turbo was heading for a new clutch at 94,0000 but still had life. It (the car) got rid of itself thou at 94,000 one day. The CAT collapsed and the Turbo lit up lol and the driveshaft (plastic/nylon) sorta did the PLAYDOO thing. And the car was never right again. But was slightly almost not noticable slipping on odd days before that. So 100,000 was the limit I think there. But My Celica GT and Celica GTS were fine and lasted with the new owners a long long time after me. Much like SoberOne said.
