Just wondered has anyone else has had the tyre pressure warning light stay on even thought the tyres are at the correct pressure? My car is a 2015 'Connect'
Yep it's still under warranty but just wondered if this was something new... Thanks.............Ian
This has happened occasionally. There was another member that had this problem this week also. Other than resetting the car (disconnecting the battery, which causes the radio and some other things to need resetting), there does not seem to be much of an answer.
A nail here too! But, with Steel Belted Radial tires, they can be low enough to trip the TPMS system and you can't see which tire is causing the problem, by just doing a 'Walk Around'.
I had to pay my Goodyear dealer $30 to test all my TPMS sensors to find that one tire was actually low due to a nail in the tire. It was a very small nail, causing a very slow leak, but had I just got out of the car with my trusty Tire Pressure Gauge in hand and checked all four tires, I could have saved myself the $30, but I would have still had to pay to have the tire fixed.
Now, to be safe and not sorry, I manually check all four tires for correct pressure at least once a week.
As long as each TPMS sensor is working properly, they are a great safety feature, but....
when they stop working, they can be a real PITA and another pain in the pocket book. They're not cheap!
Cheers Mates!
PS: Don't just assume that the TPMS system is at fault, just because the tires "Look OK".
Check each tire yourself, with a Tire Pressure Gauge. (they only cost less than $5 at most Auto Parts Stores and Walmart.)
Thanks for your replies guys...... I checked my tyre pressures with two different guages which show that they were OK. I eventually contacted the local Kia garage who explained that it is a known problem and providing the tyres are at the correct pressure it will eventually reset itself. Sure enough after giving the tyres a quick burst of a couple of pounds, lost during the testing, they system did reset itself after travelling for around 20 miles. I've done a bit of research since tyhe problem occurred and it seems that the system is very sensitive and has been know to show a warning light having been caused near a high tech security sytem that as banks use .... or even after rotating tyres to get even wear, or sudden changes of temperature. In any of these circumstances other than a genuine puncture, the system will eventually reset itself. Hope this info will reassure anyone getting a similar occurrence. By the way folks, I am really delighted with the Soul.... especially the comfort and handling, (well maybe I could do without funny warning systems Lol) Oh, and it tows like a dream........
Cheers all,
Ian
