    Paint Damage repaired Under Warranty

    My dealer has come back to me and they are going to respray my doors and rear arches under warranty. They wont do the bonnet because this is a hard wearing area of the car and is expected. I took the car to the dealer, spoke to the warranty manager, he took photos, sent them to Kia and they gave the go ahead for the work to be done. Will take 3 days and Iam getting a courtesy car for the time the Soul is in.

    Thats good to hear, at least Kia UK have recognized they have some paint issues, but I would have thought the bonnet would be done as well, since it is of the same quality paint as on the rest of the car, (you may have a case), or just as a good will gesture.

    Congrats scooner8 - Good for you - your dealer seems to be responsible Kia desire to impose herself and to correct deficiencies in the paint on our cars. I see your car is Tommato red like mine. Unfortunately my dealer, which is the only country-wide is careless about brand reputation
    and told me that the damage to my paint were just from road conditions. If you have any document or letter from your dealer for respraing under warranty and if possible send it to me I will be very grateful. If you give me some official information from Kia to make it available to my dealer maybe he is going to take note and repaints and my car under warranty.

    I also have the same issue and would appreciate a letter also as my dealer said it is due to road conditions and is not covered either ..They said to get a 3M Venture Shield applied over top for now to further reduce any chance of more damage... and also said that I can take it a piant shop and they could polish or buff it to get out the chips which I can see helping when the chips are right thru the paint...

    Looks like another call to Kia Canada and me being insistent as I did with my interior panels plastic being so low grade quality and scratching easliy ( they are replacing those once one dealer gets the panels and b pillars in) ....

    I took to a local paint shop here and they said it would cost me 500 plus the 80 bucks of reapplying the Ventureshield after..

    Please send me whatever documentation from your dealer stating that they will fix it under warranty and photos of your damage so I can send them to my Kia Canada along with my photos so I can get my damage fixed under warranty also....

    PS I was proactive and when I bought the vehicle I got the 3M Ventureshield applied to the Bonnet, both side mirrors and front panels...

    wow - good for you and fwtiw from someone that learned this one the hard way with a brand new honda prelude years ago >>you might want to find out the baking temp that body shop uses b/c only the higher end shops bake at or even close to factory temps, and definitely make sure body shop makes a note on your paper work that you want the windows pulled rather than the short cut that many shops do, which is to tape around them...

    I see I am not only claimant from poor quality of the paint on our cars. I understand that even in the benchmark for consumer rights - USA and Canada poor quality water-based paint is not recognized in the warranty. I propose to form a group with a international general complaint about the paint on our cars and to refer the case to scooner8 and replacement of the hood on test car in Autobild in Germany, as I mention in the following post: Kia aware of paint issues?

    Took mine in today for a range of paint damage issues, from bonnet to doors and rear arches - and dealer said that Kia UK have acknowledged paint issue re rear arches (when you open the doors and look at the rear wheel arch and door area that is then exposed).

    They took photos to send to Kia UK but said they didn't think they would agree to the bonnet and stone chip/paint rubbed off issues being done - we shall see.

    If there is a known issue with one part of the paint - they cannot get off with saying the bonnet is expected to get damaged - if it is a hard wearing area it should have better paint to protect it, as it should be fit for it's purpose -not try to tell the consumer that it's not covered as they expect it too get damaged.

    I got the call last week with KIA saying that if I paid to have a clear bra done, they would repaint the car. I have to call tomorrow to work out the details, but it looks like mine is going to get taken care of. I'm in TX.

    It would be really helpful if you posted pics of the damage and any written responses from KIA. I have a case open but was highly disrespected by kia and am waiting for a "specialist" to show up and see it in person.

    Appreciate any help you could give

    Just had my stone chipping claim rejected again.....not giving up tho.....this isnt what car ownership is meant to be about......so much for "the customer is always right". Kia's slogan should be " the customer is always wrong , once we have your money".........
