Yup. Pretty much most songs purchased from iTunes will be in .m4a which is their protected DRM media. Imported songs or backup songs will be in .mp4. Converting from mp4->mp3 usually results in loss of song info such as Title, album art, artist info, etc.

I recommend Amazon. Low prices, and now they are offering free full mp3 versions when you buy the hard copy of a cd, or just the mp3 version if you want it cheap. And it's the full mp3 version with artwork, info, everything. Saves me the hassle of converting mp4 to mp3 and retyping all the info by hand and then updating the files to get the right artwork. -_-

thanks, Goseki, so far I've just been purchasing CD's and then just stick it in my computer and rip it to mp3 format using WMP for storage on my hard drive and then easily drag and drop to my USB for my UVO system (either from a USB stick or load to the Jukebox). Nice to have the track info along with the album art. If I can't get the art work online, I scan the CD covers or in the case of LP's I've converted I photograph them and then save them to the album tracks and now I have the album art showing on my UVO screen - neat!

Unfortunately at present Amazon Canada does not yet offer that set up that the US division has with regards mp3 downloads. I do quite a bit of purchases from Amazon Canada.

You know, there are ways to change it so you can access Amazon US. Similar to how people in the US are able to access Amazon UK or iTunes India. Specially for instant purchases like mp3, there's no need to worry about shipping.

I can access Amazon US with no problem, just never purchased music in mp3 format from there or from anywhere else for that matter, so not sure if there is a problem if I do that. I have purchased CD's from Amazon UK in the past.

Now Amazon US also gives you access to high quality MP3 versions of all the songs you've purchased on CD at no charge, so no reason to bother ripping them yourself. When they started doing this, I checked and found MP3s for CDs that I purchased nearly 10 years ago from Amazon.

But only if you purchased from them, but its so easy and quick to rip a CD to mp3 on your computer, its not worth the effort, but I guess it might if you've accidentally deleted the tracks.

I had issues with several different brands of thumb drives. Even with so-called name brands than were only 2 GB. I have not had any issues with Sandisk Cruzer's , however. I am currently using a 32 GB in my non UVO 2012 + without any issues at all. I highly recommend trying Sandisk. And no, I don't work for them nor am I being paid for my opinion!! :-)

Let us know if you try one and your results. There were much older posts here concerning the USB playback issue and I mentioned it then, glad there was a chance to bring it up again.

I hope you find a solution!!!

    Cheers!

My soul doesn't like some brands of usb sticks. I would try another brand.
